Ardent Industries Ltd. (Steelway Building Systems, ExSteel Building Components, Zelus Material Handling, Ventri Door Technologies and Glass Canada) is committed to creating and protecting the physical and psychological health and safety of our employees, customers, contractors, visitors, and members of the community. We will work in a spirit of consultation and cooperation with workers to provide a safe, healthy work environment. Our ultimate goal is to prevent occupational injury and illness in the workplace.

As a company we are committed to:

The personal health and safety of each employee of Zelus Material Handling (Zelus) is of primary importance. The prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses is so important that it will be given the highest priority. To the greatest degree possible, Senior Leadership will provide all mechanical and physical facilities required to strive to achieve our health and safety targets and objectives.

We will maintain a health, safety and environmental program conforming to the best practices of organizations similar to ours. To be successful, the program must start with proper attitudes toward injury and illness prevention on the part of senior leadership, leaders and employees. It also requires cooperation in all health and safety matters, not only between senior leadership, leaders and employees, but also between each employee and their co-workers. Only through such efforts can a health and safety program be established and maintained. We commit to the consultation and participation of our employees, and where they exist, worker representatives.

The senior leadership of Zelus is committed to the prevention of occupational illness and injury. We shall maintain a safe and healthy work environment and commit to continual improvement of the health and safety management system, eliminating hazards, and reducing health and safety risks.

Zelus and its employees shall adhere to all current legislation and regulations. Our health and safety program includes:

  • Providing mechanical and physical safeguards, as required
  • Conducting health and safety inspections (formal and informal) to find and eliminate unsafe working conditions and practices, control health hazards, and complying fully with the health and safety standards of our customers
  • Training all employees in good health and safety practices and procedures
Providing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and instruction for its use and care
  • Developing and enforcing health and safety rules and requiring that employees cooperate with these rules
  • Investigating every incident promptly and thoroughly to discover the root cause and develop appropriate corrective actions

Senior leadership is committed to complying with all relevant legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and codes. The safety information in this policy does not take precedence over applicable government regulations, with which all employees should be familiar with.
