Today's remote control crane systems allow operators to perform operations that are impossible with a traditional pendant control system, such as running cranes in tandem. Remote control systems were once an expensive upgrade but are now comparably priced to a wired pendant system. Because the operator isn't tethered to the overhead crane by a pendant, he or she can maintain a safe distance from the load and other workplace hazards.
